The government has announced a major reduction in petrol and diesel prices. This deduction is being made by the Central Excise Duty. "We are reducing the central excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per liter and on diesel by Rs 6 per liter," Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted.

This will reduce the price of petrol by Rs 9.5 per liter and diesel by Rs 7 per liter. The opposition has been attacking the central government over the last few months over rising fuel prices.



 

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "I urge all state governments, especially those states where no cuts were made during the last round (November 2021), to implement the same cuts and provide relief to the common man." The reduction in petrol prices is a great relief to the common man. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made one more big announcement giving relief to the people.


Customs duty on raw materials will also be reduced


"We are also reducing customs duties on raw materials and intermediaries for plastic products," he said. Our import dependence is more on plastic products. He said import duty on some steel raw materials would also be reduced. In addition, export duty will be levied on certain steel products. "Steps are being taken to improve the availability of cement and reduce the price of cement," Sitharaman said.


The pressure was created by the opposition


In addition to the increase in petrol and diesel prices in the last few months, there has also been a steady rise in LPG prices. Due to which people's budget is being affected. Seeing this, all the opposition parties as well as experts were demanding reduction in fuel prices. Pressure was also mounting on the government to reduce prices. From the Congress onwards, the Aam Aadmi Party has surrounded the government on the issue of inflation. However, now that the government has understood the problem of the common man, the customs duty on jakacha goods will also be reduced.


 

Also relief in gas cylinder

In addition, the Modi government has announced a subsidy of Rs 200 per gas cylinder (up to 12 cylinders). Which will directly benefit 9 crore beneficiaries of Ujjawala scheme. "It will help our mothers and sisters," he said.
